Step 1 - Enter your main domain

Start by entering the full web address of the site you want to analyse. This lets Connect explore your pages and set a foundation for the scan.

Example: https://www.mysite.com

Step 2 - Select the destination URL

Choose the specific page you want to strengthen with internal links, and paste its slug or path into the destination field. This is the URL that will receive new links from across your site.

Example: /products/specific-product

This will then ensure that Connect is scanning for links to the https://www.mysite.com/products/specific-product page only.

Step 3 - Add up to five keyword variations

Enter up to five keyword variations or synonyms that naturally relate to your destination page. The aim is to give Connect the different phrases people use when they mean that page.

Say you sell pens and you're strengthening your ballpoint range: you might use ballpoint pens, retractable pens, click pens and biros. If you hand-pour scented candles and you're building up your soy range, it could be soy candles, scented candles, hand-poured candles and candle gift sets.

This variety lets Connect find a wider range of unlinked mentions across your content, giving you a fuller picture of where improvements can be made.

Step 4 - Run the scan

Once your keywords are in, click Scan. Within about a minute, Connect crawls your whole domain, searching for every instance of those terms. It then generates a structured report showing two key groups:

  • Unlinked Mentions – places where the phrase appears, but no link currently exists to your destination page.

  • Linked Mentions – places where the phrase already links correctly to your chosen URL.

This gives you full visibility of your internal linking profile for that specific page, helping you see what’s missing and what’s already in good order.

Step 5 - Export or take action

You can export the results to work on elsewhere, or work through them directly in Connect. Add internal links where they don't yet exist, and make sure each one reads naturally in its surrounding context. The process saves hours of manual trawling through CRM systems or content libraries, turning one of SEO's most tedious tasks into a focused, manageable workflow.

Bonus tip - Create reciprocal links

Internal linking works best when it's circular. Once you've added new links pointing towards your destination page, visit that page itself and make sure it links back out to the related pages you just edited.

This reciprocity creates balance and lets authority flow freely between pages. It's a simple step, often overlooked, that helps search engines interpret the relationships across your site.

Anchor text variety and why it matters

One of the most overlooked parts of internal linking is anchor text diversity.

Connect shows you where unlinked mentions exist, and it also reveals the anchor text used in your existing links. That matters more than many people realise.

Repeating the same anchor phrase across dozens of links can make a site's structure look rigid or manipulative. By varying the language you use, changing tone, tense, or related phrasing, you gain three things:

  1. Contextual accuracy: different anchors help search engines understand the full scope of what your content covers.
  2. Natural link profile: varied linking language looks organic and builds trust with search algorithms.
  3. Better user experience: unique anchors read smoothly and feel purposeful instead of repetitive.

Strong internal linking comes down to connection, relevance and balance. With Connect you can hold that balance, making sure every link adds value and every keyword carries its weight.

Connect brings structure back to the surface. Every scan adds clarity and every link restores flow, a small change that makes the whole system stronger.
